Mabeleng’s appreciation of music was kindled at an
early age when he started to play drums at Mafolo Youth Club.
In 1989, he went to study music at Madimba Institute of African
Music, Diepkloof. In 1990, he won a scholarship for the Zimbabwe
College of Music. Having finished his studies, he went on
to teach at the Funda Centre. At this time he started to
perform with numerous artists, including Pops Muhommed and
Afro Vision. He performs around the world as well as finding
time to record and compose music.
