Andy Jackson
Sound Designer

Over the past fifteen years, Andy has worked in a variety of audio environments as an audio designer, engineer, consultant and project manager, primarily working in theatre, music and the corporate market.

In recent years, Andy has lent his audio engineering and management skills to a wide variety of sound design projects. They include the Sony Radio Awards (‘93-‘96), The Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting opening ceremony in Edinburgh (1997), opening night parties for Sunset Boulevard and Phantom of the Opera and Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday party (1998).

In addition, Andy has designed the prestigious Mercury Music Prize since its conception (consecutively for eleven years), helping it to grow from a small intimate prize to the largest arts prize in Europe. Live artists have included Van Morrison, Sting, Faithless, Suede, Pulp, Primal Scream & Coldplay.

Andy has worked on the European and Asian tours of Dein Perry’s Tap Dogs, as well as overseeing the original version into the West End. Responsibilities now include recruitment of engineers and training to the original design.

In June 1999, Andy designed the award-winning dance show Gumboots, which is currently touring the Europe and the Far East following successful runs in the US and London's West End.
Other recent studio work includes recording of Colin Dunn & Jean Butlers Dancing on Dangerous Ground at Metropolis Studios. As well as working on the recording, Andy also designed and engineered the show, which premiered on Broadway’s Radio City in New York.

In the summer 2000, Andy designed the ‘Caribbean Summer’ for Channel 4. Artists included Jools Holland, Third World, James Taylor Quartet and The Wailers. This was followed with Channel 4 Summer Tour 2001, which included such names as Fat Boy Slim, Paul Okenfold, Groove Armada & Talvin Singh playing live to audiences of up to 70,000 people.

Other projects throughout 2001 have included ‘Lambchop’ and ‘Orbital’ at Somerset House, The record breaking ‘Vodafone Ball’ which included artists such as ‘The Corrs’, ‘RonanKeating’, ‘Hearsay’,‘Culture Club’ and ‘Steps’ to name a few.

Midsummer Classics at the Albert Hall was another design featuring ‘Montserratt Caballe’,’ Michael Ball’, ‘Tito Beltran’ with the ‘Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.’
